Low Price Cyber War: The Next Threat to National Security and What to Do About It

I enjoyed an earlier work of Clarke a few years back, so I thought I would give this one a try as well.

What I wanted from this piece was just a firmer understanding of the potential threats and some of the possible solutions to this new challenge. And as the subtitle suggests, Clarke hits upon these points fully, as well as gives the necessary background in order to create a more comprehensive picture of the current situation both stateside and internationally. I think it helped that Clarke himself is not a technical expert in computers/internet, because it makes it easier for him to connect with the general public. He makes sense of the phenomenon and the implications of cyber war for national security. Teaming up with another writer (Knake) was smart too, in that it added the requisite technical knowledge while freeing up Clarke to concentrate on how the internet has changed some of the ways we may need to go about waging war in the future.

The really great thing about Clarke though is that he does not come across as partisan in the least. That is not to say that he is not opinionated (because he does unabashedly take stands on many issues/polices), but that he does not display those all-to-common kneejerk explanations for whatever happens to be one party's official stance or another at the time on any given issue.

Overall, the book was a quick read and I felt like I learnt a good deal.Get more detail about Cyber War: The Next Threat to National Security and What to Do About It.
